Why local matters in software sales
Buying software is a trust decision. Buyers prefer to talk in their own language, to someone who understands how their industry works, and who is reachable in their time zone. A founder with a good product and a foreign email address often loses to a weaker product with a local face.
Option 1: hire locally
Hiring gives you the most control, but it is slow and carries a fixed cost long before you know whether the market responds. It is the right move once demand is proven, not before.
Option 2: resellers and channel partners
Resellers and integration partners sell alongside their own services. This can work well, but it depends on finding partners who actually care about your product, and they usually need margin, training and support.
Option 3: an outsourced sales partner
A sales partner works on your behalf in the market, ideally on a performance-based deal. You get local conversations without building a team, and you learn quickly whether the market is worth a real investment.
How to run a market test
Pick one country and one type of buyer. Agree a clear pitch, a price and a target for meetings and demos within the first weeks. Review after a fixed period, then decide whether to double down, adjust the offer or stop.
A small, well-defined test teaches you more than a vague launch ever will.
